The brief was to create a portrait in A2 size, no matter the portrait.
In an affluent Singapore where we see many well-to-do elderly with a proper family to take good care of them during their retirement age, there lies the hidden and invisible. In the unseen, a small quaint estate called Jalan Kukoh in the heart of the city; a rental flat estate, houses many elderly that have been forgotten or are alone. The estate is known to be the one of the poorest in Singapore.
We thought of how these elderly have been 'thrown away", "forgotten" and left alone, like garbage.
With the permission of a few elderly, we burned them and pieced them together on an A2 board to create a portrait of the old and forgotten, sidelined elderly.
Project is done in first year of GSA with group mates Lee Zi Xuan and Lee Zi Ying.
